NFL 2025 season: Week six

Live coverage features live text for Sunday's games on multiple platforms, beginning with Denver Broncos v New York Jets in London (from 14:00 BST). Additionally, audio coverage can be heard through designated networks covering another key matchup (beginning at 9 PM BST).

We're in the sixth week in the NFL season , following recent discussion about two top teams as a potential Super Bowl match-up, they both surrendered their perfect starts.

Notable during those contests were the number of penalties each committed. Philadelphia committed them in key moments so they essentially beat themselves after leading by two touchdowns entering the fourth period versus the Denver Broncos, set to play in London this Sunday.

But it was good to see that Denver's QB Bo Nix was able to overcome the shortfall before lead three scoring drives in three attempts during the final period, to win the game by four points.

The Broncos have the top defender with cornerback Pat Surtain II. They rank number one in goal-line defense, while the Eagles are number one in red zone offence, and the Broncos won that contest.

They had effective strategies regarding simulated pressure. They did not always rushing more than four pass rushers instead they could plug two linebackers in the interior before drop them out and dispatch a nickel off the edge.

Early on of the season, it was noted during a show that Denver could be this season's surprise contenders. They finished last season well then excelled of building upon that.

Could Denver be this year's underdog story?

Recently acquired TE Evan Engram has excelled big and new running back JK Dobbins is a guy they believe in. He's currently fifth in the NFL in ground gains (over 400) as well as tied for fourth for rushing touchdowns (four).

I love that head coach the Broncos' leader has "RUN IT!" at the top on his call sheet.

That shows that Denver represent a team that wants to prioritize the run, because one can achieve much off the back of that. It reduces down the pass rush and keeps you in favourable down and distances.

This has helped QB Bo Nix, who entered into the league as the 12th overall draft pick last year, passing for 29 touchdown passes – just behind a star QB for the rookie record (31 in 2020).

Other elite QBs possess powerful arms to pass all over, but they lack the mobility that Nix has. He boasts exceptional arm talent, a unique trait, and he is highly agile.

His assets are his movement, the capacity to pass on the run, as well as finding varied release points to make throws when he rolls out of the pocket, the bootlegs. He can deliver that layered pass over the middle or past defenders.

As a rookie QB, at 25, he displays great poise under pressure and isn't bothered by extra rushers. He tries to evade being tackled as much as possible and can throw in tight spots. He has sharp intelligence and remains quick to decide.

When you constantly rush it consumes time and makes the defence to stay in play for longer, and if you have a mobile QB the defence has to defend the area vertically and horizontally. It can be exhausting.

Nix has pushed back at Payton during games at times and I think the coach likes that attitude, that he's such a competitor. In my view it's fun for the coach to coach a young quarterback that is kind of like play-dough. He can truly build something up how he desires to build it. I believe it's a special experience for him.

The head coach has won a Super Bowl and now surpassed Bill Parcells for career NFL wins (173, tying for 14th). He has witnessed everything. In my opinion the achievements the Broncos are having on offence is mostly due to his leadership, his schemes, his situational awareness – and the pairing with the QB helps make him what he is.

You wouldn't want a better guy guiding you, to help you during difficult moments and boost confidence.

I have faith in the Broncos' defense, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. But is the team strong enough to go against an elite team at its best? Because that was not a Super Bowl performance from Philadelphia in their last game.

Currently, it's unlikely the Broncos are incredible. They're performing better than most, that's a solid position to hold the AFC West. The key is to continue this trajectory.

They excel at embracing their forte, that is the ground game, and that's precisely what they must do versus the New York Jets at Tottenham. It's going to be a Dobbins-focused game, in essence.

The Jets have allowed 140 yards on the ground each contest (sixth worst), five ground scores so far (10th worst), and they're the sole squad yet to win a game.

Since the league began tracking turnovers decades ago, this team are the first team to go without any turnovers through five games, which is surprising when you think that their new coach was previously a defensive coach at the Detroit Lions.

Patrick Mahomes stated Kansas City are off to a poor start after a recent loss by the Jaguars.

Following the upcoming matchup, Denver have a manageable slate up to their bye (in week 12) - the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, the Texans plus Las Vegas Raiders prior to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Looking at the AFC West, the Chiefs are 2-3 and the Broncos are even with the Los Angeles Chargers at 3-2 meaning they could make a run at leading the division.

This hinges upon what version Kansas City shows up they meet because Denver {beat|def
