Thrice-crowned NBA MVP Jokic sustained a "gut-wrenching" injury to his knee as the Denver Nuggets were defeated 147-123 to the Heat.
The star player sustained the injury late in the first half following an accidental coming together with teammate Spencer Jones.
His teammate came down on the foot of Jokic, who promptly went down to the ground grabbing his leg.
The star, that is leading the league season in rebounds and dimes, posted 21 points and eight dimes in the matchup prior to suffering the setback.
The player will have an scan on the following day to determine the extent of the injury.
"Right away, he understood he was hurt," stated Denver coach Adelman.
"This happens in professional sports. Whoever who gets hurt, it's gut-wrenching, most notably a player as special as him. More information will come on Tuesday."
"We will continue together. Of course, at this moment, I am more worried primarily about him as a person and the letdown of experiencing a situation like that."
