The former Liverpool manager says a return to coach Liverpool is theoretically possible.

Jurgen Klopp, who departed from Liverpool in 2024, remarked that rejoining the club is a possibility. Klopp, following a hugely successful nine-year spell which brought Champions League success and the Reds’ first league title in 30 years, has since taken on positions in a global football capacity within the Red Bull organization and providing guidance to Germany's league body.

Fan Sentiment and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

Liverpool won England's top flight in the previous campaign, yet numerous supporters holding him in high esteem would embrace the idea that he may eventually return. Speaking candidly, he shared with Steven Bartlett: “I declared I won't manage a different club within the country. Therefore should it be the Reds...absolutely. In theory, it could happen.”

“At 58 years old, which suggests I might decide later on, who knows. Must I choose now? If so, I wouldn't return. Luckily, I don’t have to do that. I can just see how things unfold.”

Conditions for a Comeback

Pressed on the specific conditions would have to unfold to bring him back to management, Klopp admitted he feels no immediate pull to such a return. “I'm not entirely sure, I love what I do right now,” he commented. “I don’t miss coaching; I don’t miss standing during downpours for two-and-a-half or three hours; I don’t miss going to interviews four times, three times a week or constant media duties each week.

“I don’t miss the dressing room in that context, but sitting in a restaurant with the players having a nice chat, that’s nice. Success was frequent meaning regularly great spirits in the building. I can still hear the captain's chuckle ringing in my ears as an instance.”

Commending Arne Slot

He commended of the current boss, crediting him for the tweaks that won the league last campaign. The team has suffered four in a row in all competitions following significant transfers, though he denied the idea that it might signal the start of a downward turn.

“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward like Florian Wirtz, doubters will be silenced if spoken against. An outstanding player. [Hugo] Ekitike, excellent performer. They have a strong balanced team. No need for concern regarding the Reds, they will be fine.”

Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward

Klopp also spoke emotionally regarding the passing of Diogo Jota, a 2020 acquisition in 2020, and the effect at the club. The forward died tragically in a road accident with his brother this past summer.

“Who can fill the void of somebody like Diogo? This isn't just regarding his on-field talent, it’s the guy he was. It's hard to picture the team environment missing him. Putting it into words is tough about it. It was an incredible shock for the entire squad too. No one within the club will ever use it as an excuse though it's a fact. Entering the changing area which he filled completely. Handling this individually is not easy. Impossible.”
