Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Has Liverpool's Support After PSV Loss

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it was understandable for doubts to be asked about his position following a further convincing loss against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their ninth defeat in 12 games, marking the team's poorest run since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I have got significant backing from the top,” the coach stated.

“It's important to reverse this trend and secure a win of course but when you're in a managerial role and struggling then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I am OK with my role. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to elaborate on his conversations with the team officials, Slot explained:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me all the time each day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “Through standard discussions I perceive the confidence. But I've not talked to them since this game yet so we'll see.”

Recurring Problems and Player Response

Slot lamented familiar shortcomings from his team in their European loss, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Jones was blunter in his view of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” Jones stated.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I’m past getting mad internally. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He added, “It's tough because I’m playing for the club I love. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club for years.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a phase like this with performances this poor.”

Jones stated, “However we still have that badge on our chest. And until it is gone, we’re always going to fight.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad return to the top, demonstrate to all once more what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the greatest side in the world.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
