The direst possible consequences of the global heating for the UK have been mapped by scientists, encompassing a searing 4C increase in temperatures to a 2-metre increase in ocean levels. A separate possibility envisions a plunge of 6C in temperatures following the failure of key Atlantic Ocean currents, which would profoundly upset food production and energy needs.
