19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hard courts
A revitalized the Russian player won his first title for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
The athlete, a ex- world number one, has endured a torrid season, achieving just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a setback at the American major.
The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in especial - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with long-term trainer Cervara.
Now collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
This represents the player's initial championship since the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt since March of that year.
The win also means Medvedev has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one distinct events.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters at once, so to get a title is particularly special," stated world number 14 the champion.
"This title is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six finals, including in the German tournament earlier this year.
The player's defensive approach and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had prompted some to question if his capacity to compete at the top level was concluded.
Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and play aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.
The champion came back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging opponent, winning 4 of the concluding five games to go ahead.
The pair traded breaks in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden tour victory, took control to force a decider.
He defended four initial chances in a tight deciding set before the Russian secured a break to that score to secure the win.
Suitably, the winner earned the win with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
