The Red Bull team has announced a major reshuffle for the 2026 Formula 1 season, moving up French driver Isack Hadjar to its A-team and awarding 18-year-old Briton Arvid Lindblad his debut F1 drive.
Lindblad, who has a Swedish father and a mother of Indian descent, will be the partner of New Zealander Liam Lawson at the second team Racing Bulls.
This reshuffling results in Japan's Yuki Tsunoda losing his seat after five seasons.
Arvid Lindblad took part in first practice for the British and Mexico City Grands Prix this year.
The youngster was identified as a prodigy by Red Bull from the age of 12 years old.
Talking about the company's junior academy, a key advisor previously said that Lindblad "seems extremely gifted", highlighting his "raw pace".
Red Bull prepared a programme for some time to prepare Lindblad for his likely Grand Prix bow in 2026, including runs in Grand Prix practice at Silverstone and Mexico City.
Lindblad stated it was a "dream come true", commenting: "2026 will be a massive test, and I know there's a lot to learn, but I'm prepared to collaborate with the team and meet the challenge. I am incredibly excited to get started."
Lindblad has taken a couple of victories in F2 this year and is sixth in the championship ahead of the final round in Abu Dhabi.
The French driver celebrates his maiden top-three finish in F1, achieved at the Dutch Grand Prix in August.
The Frenchman's debut season began on a low note when he spun out on the formation lap of the season-opening Australian Grand Prix. But, from that point, he has been one of the most impressive rookies this season.
His performances featured an excellent podium finish at the Dutch Grand Prix, and he lies in tenth place in the championship.
The team principal commented: "Isack has displayed impressive growth and proved to be a quick learner. Most importantly, he has the raw speed that is the number one requirement in this sport. We believe he can succeed alongside Max."
The promoted driver called it "an incredible opportunity" and said he felt "prepared".
To partner Lindblad at the junior team, Red Bull have preferred Lawson instead of Tsunoda.
Lawson started 2025 with the main team but was demoted early in the year. However, he has settled back in at Racing Bulls with some strong performances, persuading Red Bull he deserves more time.
The Japanese driver, meanwhile, has been ejected after a disappointing season. His highest finish is a sixth place, and he has accumulated a minor percentage of the team's constructors' championship.
These announcements mean that there remains no place on the Red Bull programme for Irish driver Alex Dunne, who will remain in F2 next season.
