Former Physician Faces Assault Allegations Involving 38 Patients
Legal authorities have announced that a ex- physician stands accused of committing assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were under his care.
The Grave Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous acts of sexual assault – some of which involve acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
A deputy chief prosecutor commented, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges come after what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant will appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors said the forty-five sexual offences he is charged with:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
Authorities are urging anyone with concerns to get in touch with the investigating team.
