Regardless of the result, the siblings are still excited about the trip.

"We are going to have a fantastic experience nonetheless," said Katie. "We must adopt that attitude."

"Naturally, it's disappointing we can't contest the series, but we have invested a significant amount as it is."

"We'll enjoy spending the festive season out there. This will be mine and Rory's first time traveling at this time of year."

A schoolteacher, Katie is intent on maximizing the long-haul travel as part of her seasonal break.

"If all else fails, I've got golf to turn to," she added.
